US Court Learns SEO: China Ramifications

So a court, after expert testimony, decided keyword meta-tags don’t influence search results. OK, we knew that already, but it’s nice to have it on the legal record.

I do wonder if it matters for Chinese search. I am only guessing, bit I would assume that since the engines here give you priority when you have Chinese content on your site that it may have some impact if you include them.

The whole case was about unethical search folks adding in competitors keywords to try and infringe on trademarked names and competitor’s services. It isn’t allowed in Title or description tags or PPC campaigns.

It does appear that Google, always keen to make a buck now that they corporate spin masters that keep hope alive on the Do No Evil” thing, are experimenting with the sell of trademarked terms in the UK

Baidu to do online games

Try to keep up: On the heels of new financial network, a messaging service, cooperation with recording companies, mobile ad interface, opening of the Baidu API to western development, and a new online auction platform Baidu (whew) is now joining arms with a group of game developers to cash in on China’s most lucrative Internet space: Gaming.
